Kings to play warm-up games in Quebec City

Hockey in Quebec is different. After all, we’re asking two different kinds of questions.

On the one hand, we wonder whether Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki should come back together. We wonder if Cayden Primeau deserves to play one of the three games this week. We wonder if Mike Matheson is in top form.

But we also wonder what it will take for the Centre Vidéotron to be used to its full potential.

After all, at the moment, the Centre Vidéotron may be used by the Quebec Remparts or for shows, but it was originally built in the hope of seeing NHL hockey.

At least the good news is that next fall, there will be.

I’m not announcing the return of the Quebec Nordiques. What I am saying is that, according to Stéphane Cadorette of the Journal de Québec, there will be two Los Angeles Kings preparatory games in Quebec City next year.

In reality, the Los Angeles Kings will finish their camp in Quebec City. There will be two games, as well as training sessions. Some will even be open to the public.

On October 3, the Boston Bruins (Patrice Bergeron’s former club) will be in town. And two days later, the Florida Panthers will take on the Kings.

We imagine that Quebecer Luc Robitaille is behind the idea to bring the Kings to Quebec City.

We can also imagine that this will be a test for Quebec City fans, who should get more than a passing grade – unlike the many Arizona Coyotes fans.

Pierre-Luc Dubois and Phillip Danault are two names to keep an eye on.

The last time NHL hockey was present in Quebec City, it was the Habs. That was in September 2018 when the Washington Capitals were the visitors.
