Gallagher: “If I stay healthy, I feel I can get back to the level that allowed me to score 30 goals.”
Also says he’s feeling good and that his summer of training has been very solid.
The last few years, he adds, have been very frustrating.

I love him, Brendan Gallagher. And I’m sure it’s the same for you.
After all, it’s hard not to respect him, because he’s always put the team ahead of himself. Ever since his NHL debut, the diminutive forward has worked his butt off on the ice, night after night… a mentality that has always enabled him to achieve success on the ice.
He’s not at the point where he can’t move forward, but you know exactly what I mean because we’ve all seen him in the last two years.
In fact, for the last two summers, he’s been saying that he feels in great shape and that he thinks he’s back to his old level. And the trend is no different this year…
Gally has big ambitions for next season. He hopes to spend the whole year healthy… And if that’s the case, he believes he can reach the 30-goal plateau.
Again, I love Gallagher. But…
I guess I would have liked to see him be honest with himself. It’s not that I don’t want to see him finish the campaign with 30 goals, far from it…
And we agree that if he’d said openly that he’s finished and doesn’t expect much from him in 2023-2024, it would have sounded even crazier.
That said, I would have liked to see him aim for something a little more realistic. 30 goals is a lot…
Especially given that he won’t be playing a huge role this season. It’s true that he’s already reached that plateau in his career, but at the time, he was playing on the first line and had responsibilities on the power play.
I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, but that won’t be the case this year. Not with all the youngsters pushing forward.
He’ll have a more limited role, and I imagine his job will be to energize his teammates with his fighting spirit. If he can score goals on top of that, all the better.
But in the end, it’s all the same. This isn’t the first time we’ve been sold that he’s healthy, and you know as well as I do how that’s ended up in the last two, maybe three seasons.
In closing, let’s note that the Habs got it a little wrong on their Instagram account by posting a photo of the leadership group “for the 2023-2034 season”.
If Gally is still around in 2034… Yikes. Let’s forget it right now, hehe.
