David Reinbacher: an U18 AAA match on his return to Montreal

We’re getting closer and closer to the start of training camps across the NHL. Across the league, players are beginning to return to their respective teams’ hometowns to prepare for the opening of the camps.

In Montreal, a ton of players are already in town. The same goes for Rocket players, for that matter.

We knew it was only a matter of time before David Reinbacher was back too, and he’s obviously back in town. Last night, he was at the Sportium de Sainte-Catherine to watch an U18 AAA game between the Saint-Eustache Vikings and the Riverains du Collège Charles-Lemoyne.

He obviously wanted to get back into the swing of things before the start of camp.

We also know that Reinbacher is a part-time scout in the field hockey world. Was he scouting in Quebec last night? Who knows.

Remember, too, that the CH rookie camp, in which he will be participating, opens on Wednesday. So it’s only a matter of days before we see him back on the ice in a Tricolore uniform.

The young man was officially recalled by the Canadiens towards the end of August, but yesterday was his first public appearance in Quebec. The fact that he was recalled at the end of August doesn’t mean he was necessarily in town at the time, mind you.

In short, the young man took time out to watch some homegrown field hockey on his return home. Personally, I like to see that: he’s following in the footsteps of current CH players who are trying to get involved in the Quebec community.
