Brendan Gallagher’s personal trainer still believes he can score 20 NHL goals

Brendan Gallagher is one of the players most appreciated by CH fans. He gives his heart and soul to the team, but in recent years, injuries have slowed him down. Despite this, the Habs’ #11 continues to fight to return to the NHL as a consistent scorer. And he’s not alone.

His long-time personal trainer works behind the scenes with him and believes he still has the fire to score more goals than in recent years.

On Tony Marinaro’s “The Sick Podcast”, Tim Turk, who also works with Kirby Dach, believes Gallagher is far from finished.

Asked if the 34-year-old could score 20 goals this season, he replied that he could if he got “regular shifts”.

The coach explained his point by referring to Gallagher’s routine as a ritual for him. Nobody else can do it.

He also recounted that he once played a game of ping-pong with the CH player, and it was he who insisted on keeping score.

In short, in Turk’s eyes, Gallagher still has what it takes to prove observers wrong about him.

Another interesting fact we learned in this interview is that there is no contact between Turk and Adam Nicholas, the CH’s player development coach.

Turk said that NHL players prefer to keep relationships with personal trainers secret.

I find it hard to believe that Gallagher will score 20 goals in one of the next few seasons. His body is really mortgaged. His ice time has diminished enormously in recent years, and that’s something to consider too.

That said, I still think he can be useful to the team in a support role. He needs to find his scoring touch around the net though.
