Pierre-Luc Dubois and Kings to discuss contract extension

We’re finally nearing the end of the race for the services of Quebec’s Pierre-Luc Dubois.

The Los Angeles Kings took a step forward last night by trading Sean Durzi to free up some salary cap space. In doing so, they made room for a potential contract extension for Dubois.

The Nashville Predators were also in the derby with the trade of Ryan Johansen.

Murat Ates, a reporter for The Athletic covering the Winnipeg Jets, recently reported that Dubois and the Kings were in talks to extend the Quebecer’s contract.

He points out, however, that the details of the exchange are not close to being concluded, but Ates believes they’re on the right track.

We could finally be at the end of the Dubois derby. If discussions are taking place, the Kings may well be ready to make a trade offer.

Gabriel Vilardi and Alex Iafallo would most likely be part of the deal.

Vilardi, who will become a restricted free agent on July 1, is expected to extend his contract and command a good salary.

He had a very good season in 2022-2023, collecting 41 points, including 23 goals, in 63 games. He would make up for the loss of Dubois on the physical side, at 6’3″ and 220 lbs.
