Edmonton Oilers interested in Jonathan Toews
With the off-season well underway, rumors are flying all over the National Hockey League.

Hardly a day goes by without hearing a name being linked to one or more teams by various informants and insiders.

The most recent concerns 35-year-old veteran Jonathan Toews.

It’s already been known for several months that the Chicago Blackhawks legend will not be signing a new deal with them.

We now know that Jonathan Toews will be an unrestricted free agent as of July 1, and that he could be signed by a new team if he feels healthy enough to continue playing.

The Hawks’ captain has been greatly affected by COVID over the past two seasons, causing him to miss several games.

Well, we learned earlier this week that one of the teams interested in Toews’ services is the Edmonton Oilers.

Indeed, that’s what journalist Mark Spector explained in one of his recent articles.

The Oilers would like to see Toews fill the role of fourth-trio center capable of winning his share of face-offs, something Toews has done so well throughout his career.

Of course, the 35-year-old veteran would be a one-year signing worth around $1 million.

It would be a low-risk signing for the Oilers, which could ultimately benefit them greatly, considering Toews would be a good mentor for the organization’s young forwards like Dylan Holloway and Ryan McLeod.

Nevertheless, Toews’ serious health problems are a cause for concern, and this could change the Oilers’ mind.

Ken Holland is said to have put Oilers scout and advisor Duncan Keith in charge of the Jonathan Toews file to find out if he is healthy and ready to play a season with the Oilers.

This could be the last chance for Toews, who already has three Stanley Cups to his name, to win one.

It’s a story to keep an eye on.

In a gust

– Happy Father’s Day!

– It could be an eventful summer on the Pittsburgh side.

– Why not start debating who will win the Stanley Cup in 2024?

– Projection of who will hit the most and who will hit the least for the 2023-2024 season.

– Ouch.
