Samuel Montembeault should play tonight

This morning, the Canadiens jumped on the ice in preparation for tonight’s game against the Flames. The big question on everyone’s mind, as has often been the case since the start of the season, was which goaltender should be on duty tonight.

After all, with three goalies, managing playing time isn’t easy. All three men, when you think about it, could logically aspire to play. Why do I say this?

Because Jake Allen is often trusted by his coach, has played two games in a row in the past this season and is not responsible for Sunday’s loss to the Canucks.

Because Samuel Montembeault is a goalie who’s been doing well lately and didn’t play in the last game. Logically, he needs some playing time to continue proving himself.

And because Cayden Primeau, if he plays this week, has an advantage in doing so against Calgary instead of Vegas and Boston. But I don’t necessarily think he’ll play this week, that said.

But hey. According to Arpon Basu, all indications are that the Quebecer will have the net tonight.

For the moment, the rest of the line-up hasn’t been revealed, but it didn’t look like there would be any major changes to Martin St-Louis’s line-up in light of training.

To be continued.
