The Alouettes sign three American players

The Montreal Alouettes are continuing to make roster moves in preparation for the rest of the season by adding three new players to their roster.

Wide receiver Smith, wide receiver Braham Jr., and defensive lineman Ganious come from different backgrounds, but each brings valuable experience gained in college and professional football.

Smith, 26, stands 6'1” and weighs 194 lbs. The Carthage, Missouri, native extended his contract with the Edmonton Elks in October 2024. During his first stint with the team, he recorded 13 receptions for 148 yards and one touchdown in five games.

The following season, Smith played in all 17 of Edmonton's games. He tallied 37 receptions, 402 yards, and one touchdown. He also contributed on special teams, returning 23 kicks for a total of 518 yards.

Before turning pro, Smith had a standout college career at Central Missouri. From 2018 to 2023, he played in 41 games and recorded 196 receptions for 2,816 yards and 34 touchdowns. His performance earned him an MIAA Honorable Mention in 2021, before he was named to the conference's Second All-Conference Team in 2022.

Braham Jr. and Ganious also bring a diverse range of experience

Braham Jr., a 6-foot-2, 203-pound wide receiver, is a native of Baltimore. After signing with the Ravens in May 2026 and appearing in three preseason games, he is now continuing his career in the CFL.

His college career took him through Hutchinson Community College, West Virginia, Nevada, and finally Memphis. At Hutchinson, he recorded 68 receptions for 1,387 yards and 17 touchdowns in 26 games, while helping the team win the Salt City Bowl championship in 2021. At Nevada, he had a season with 56 receptions, 724 yards, and four touchdowns in 13 games, earning him an honorable mention on the Mountain West All-Conference team.

For his part, Ganious is already familiar with the Alouettes. The 23-year-old defensive lineman participated in Montreal's most recent training camp in Quebec City as well as a preseason game.

Standing 6 ft. 1 in. tall and weighing 300 lbs., the Houston native also played for the New England Patriots after signing with the organization in August 2025. His college career included stints at Villanova and Wake Forest.

With Villanova, Ganious tallied 58 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, four sacks, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 24 games. At Wake Forest, he added 54 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and four sacks in 22 games.

The three players thus arrive in Montreal with complementary skill sets and experience gained at various levels of the game.
