The Canadiens' season will begin in just over a month. So we can expect some busy weeks ahead, with events like rookie camp, the golf tournament, and training camp.
It's all going to go by fast.
That said, even as the season approaches, Zachary Bolduc and Arber Xhekaj are still without contracts for 2026–27. We're wondering when these situations will be resolved… and it's interesting to note that Geoff Molson has spoken openly about the issue.
In an interview with Radio-Canada Sports, the Habs' owner stated that both players are important to his team, which is working hard to make sure they stay in town.
He doesn't seem too concerned that the two situations are dragging on… and he clearly expects to see them in town this season.

It's still interesting to hear Molson speak this way about Xhekaj, who has been at the center of trade rumors for quite some time. Seeing his situation (which, in reality, should be fairly straightforward to resolve) drag on raises questions.
Especially since the defenseman, as we saw today, is still as popular as ever in the city.

Obviously, to keep all this from becoming a distraction, we have to hope that the Habs will be able to reach an agreement with both players before training camp starts. Seeing one of them (or even both) sidelined from the rest of the team wouldn't be ideal.
There are reasons to believe this will eventually be resolved: all that's left is for both management and the players to put their money where their mouth is.
