The Laval Rocket is having an excellent season and it’s largely thanks to Cayden Primeau’s success since his demotion.
Things weren’t going well for him with the Montreal Canadiens at the beginning of the year and the decision to send him down (in favor of Jakub Dobes) was the best decision possible for him and the organization.
His performances have allowed the Rocket to climb to the top of the American Hockey League, with a five-point lead over the second-place team (before tonight’s games).
Very good interview with Pascal Vincent here. He made a strong case for Cayden Primeau:
« For me, he’s a National Hockey League goalkeeper. It’s unimaginable to me that he won’t become a National Hockey League goalkeeper. He’s too dominant with us for it not to be the case. » https://t.co/mfJXIaMvpO

On paper, there’s no doubt that Primeau is good enough to make the official jump to the National Hockey League.
The situation in Laval is quite different from Montreal and it’s always very difficult to make the jump to the National Hockey League, especially for a goalkeeper.
However, it shouldn’t be this season, as the Rocket has a real chance of winning the Calder Cup and things are going too well for Primeau.
Overtime
– If Tage Thompson deserves his place, Cole Caufield deserves it just as much.
Hearing Tage Thompson is likely to play for Team USA at Worlds next month.
Thompson’s 39 goals are the most by any U.S.-born player in the @NHL this season. His case for the Olympic roster is strong.
