Training for extras: Rafaël Harvey-Pinard and Jesse Ylönen on the rink

In the last few days, Rafaël Harvey-Pinard was seen skating with the regulars. Seeing him skate was, in context, good news for the Quebecer, who has a lower-body injury.

That said, seeing him skate this morning is not good news. Why not? Because only the extras (and goalies) were skating.

Since the CH has 14 forwards and six defensemen on hand, it’s logical to predict that the two forwards who jumped on the ice are the guys who won’t be playing tonight.

With all that in mind, let’s note that Jesse Ylönen and RHP skated.

This may mean that, at the time of writing, the Quebecer is not in a position to play – even if he does look fit. Otherwise, I think he’d be ahead of a guy like Joel Armia. No?

As for Ylönen, he’s only played in one of the last five games, the one in Arizona. Remember, he was born there.

But what we really wanted to follow was the goaltending situation. Will the Canadiens (finally) give the net to Cayden Primeau one of these days?

We’ll see what Martin St-Louis thinks, but all three goalies skated. We know that Jake Allen skated before the others, but we don’t yet know what to conclude with certainty.

Details to come…
