CH hopefuls: Joshua Roy already 22 points in nine games
While the playoffs are in full swing in the National Hockey League, so are the playoffs in the various junior leagues.

The semi-finals have begun in all three CHL leagues: QMJHL, OHL and WHL.

Here’s a rundown of where the various CH hopefuls still in contention stand.

QMJHL

Joshua Roy – Right winger – age 19

The Sherbrooke Phoenix have yet to lose a playoff game this season.

Stéphane Julien’s team is now 9-0 since the start of the playoffs.

The Phoenix’s dominance is largely due to the incredible performance of Joshua Roy, who has 22 points (11 goals and 11 assists) in nine playoff games so far.

That’s an absurd amount of points, and it really shows how Roy takes his game to the next level when it counts, as he’s doing right now in the playoffs.

In the first game of their semi-final series against the Halifax Mooseheads, the Phoenix won 5-2, a victory in which Roy picked up his 11th of the current series.

The CH prospect could even have added to his tally later with this superb feint.

In short, Phoenix is clearly on a mission, and it could very well go all the way.

Match #2 takes place today.

Riley Kidney – Center – 20 years old

Here’s the other Tricolore prospect still in action in the QMJHL.

Kidney and the Gatineau Olympiques are currently in the other semi-final against the Quebec Remparts.

Unfortunately for Kidney, the Olympiques lost the first game in Quebec City by a score of 5-2.

It’s the first time in the series that Kidney has been cleared from the score sheet, as he has 18 points (four goals and 14 assists) in 10 games.

The task of beating the Remparts will be very difficult for the Olympiques, given that Quebec City is the best team in the QMJHL.

The playoff atmosphere at the Centre Vidéotron is crazy.

If only there was an NHL team in Quebec City.

Game 2 of this series will also take place today.

OHL

Logan Mailloux – Right defenseman – 20 years old

The London Knights currently lead their semi-final series 1-0 over the Sarnia Sting.

They won the first game of the series 4-1.

The CH hopeful didn’t get a point in this game, but he does have 10 points (four goals and six assists) in 10 games since the start of the series.

Logan Mailloux is inching closer to a potential Memorial Cup berth.

Game 2 of the series takes place today in London.

Owen Beck – Centre – 19 years old

The other OHL semi-final features another CHL prospect, Owen Beck.

He too has a 1-0 series lead, as the Peterborough Petes won the first game of the series 3-2.

Beck had two points (a goal and an assist) in that game.

The CH prospect now has nine points (four goals and five assists) in 11 games.

We could very well see an OHL final between Owen Beck and Logan Mailloux, which would guarantee the presence of at least one CH hopeful at the Memorial Cup.

WHL

Jared Davidson – Center – age 20

We close with the last CHL prospect still in contention for the CHL series, Jared Davidson, who is currently in the OHL semi-finals with the Seattle Thunderbirds.

The Thunderbirds lead their series 1-0 over the Kamloops Blazers after winning Game 1 5-1.

In this game, Davidson scored two goals and an assist, bringing his playoff point total to 16 (seven goals and nine assists) in nine games.

The Thunderbirds have yet to lose a game in the playoffs so far, and they could very well win the WHL title and qualify for the Memorial Cup.

This would be a fitting end to Davidson’s junior career, as he is very likely to sign a contract with the Laval Rocket for next season.
