Things are heating up in Dallas. Maybe a little too much, actually.
For the past few days, the Stars have been facing a string of rejections. First, Jason Robertson turned down a chance to sign with Seattle. Then, Zach Werenski declined an offer to come play in town.
Is it just me, or should Jim Nill have checked BEFORE anything happened to make sure these guys were actually interested in a new destination?
But anyway. All this to say that right now, it feels like the Stars want to make a big move, but they're not able to. That's bound to have an impact on the entire organization.
Especially for Thomas Harley, who clearly knows he was included in the Zach Werenski trade to Columbus. How is he feeling this morning?
Another consequence of this is that the Mavrik Bourque situation isn't moving forward. He'll become a restricted free agent at noon, and the threat of a hostile offer is more real than ever.
And right now, all eyes are on the Flyers. Many people (including Kevin Kurz of The Athletic) are suggesting that they're considering making a hostile offer.

The offer could be worth more than seven million dollars. It would cost the Flyers a first-, second-, and third-round draft pick.
In reality, the threat of a hostile bid can lead to a trade. Daniel Brière could offer Jim Nill more attractive assets than draft picks to acquire the Quebec native.
Bourque, who is 24, isn't the only player on the Flyers' radar.
In fact, several Eastern Conference teams are reportedly in the mix. That said, word is that Kent Hughes isn't at the center of the deal. That's what Nicolas Cloutier is suggesting.
Because many are asking: the Habs don't seem to be involved in this situation. https://t.co/j0EJE8r6Yf

That's probably a good thing, since Bourque isn't 6′ tall and doesn't exactly fit the mold of the second-line center the Canadiens are looking for.
Maybe he'll be a good fit someday, but right now, the Habs need a more established player.
In a nutshell
– Development camp is in full swing.

– The Wild may retain some players.
All signs this morning point to Nick Foligno continuing his NHL career and returning to the #mnwild.
I've also heard that Zach Bogosian will pass on free agency and re-sign with the Wild.

– Bryce Pickford is scheduled for surgery tomorrow.
Forward Tyler Deakos (rehab following shoulder surgery) and defenseman Bryce Pickford (scheduled for shoulder surgery tomorrow) will not participate in on-ice sessions.

– A classic.
Happy Rick DiPietro Day!
With another NHL calendar year, the New York Islanders owe DiPietro another $1.5 million. The buyout lasts until 2028–29.
Meanwhile, this is the last year the Philadelphia Flyers are paying Ilya Bryzgalov $1.643 million. So congrats to them—you did it!
