Top-5: Jesperi Kotkaniemi would be the CH’s top scorer
Five NHL games were played yesterday.

Here are the results and highlights:

1. A seventh goal for Jesperi Kotkaniemi

Yesterday, the Hurricanes were down 2-0 midway through the third period. They still found a way to win. And they didn’t even need overtime.

A 3-2 victory.

Andrei Svechnikov, with just under two minutes left in the game, scored the winning goal.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi, who is off to a good start this season, added to his tally.

He scored his seventh goal of the campaign with a perfect shot.

The Finn would be the Canadian’s top scorer right now…

Nick Suzuki and Sean Monahan top the team with six goals apiece.

2. Seventh straight loss for the Wild

The Minnesota Wild had high aspirations for the 2023-2024 season. But things are going badly, very badly…

The team lost 4-1 in Detroit and has now lost its last seven games. Ouch!

In the Wings’ victory, David Perron scored the game’s first goal in the opening moments.

Then, the Quebecer scored his 300th career goal early in the third period.

On the losing side, Joel Eriksson Ek was the lone scorer for his team.

It was his 10th goal of the season, his sixth on the power play.

Ryan Hartman was also in the news, but for all the wrong reasons.

He made a disgraceful gesture towards Alex DeBrincat. Will he be fined?

3. Connor McDavid’s five-point game

After a slow start to the season, the real Connor McDavid is back. In his last two games, he’s collected nine points.

Yesterday, he finished with a goal and four assists.

Despite an 8-2 win for the Oilers, the game started badly for them. They gave up two goals early in the game.

And Stuart Skinner didn’t look very comfortable…

Fortunately his captain was there to carry the team on his back.

In the win, Connor Brown finally collected his first Edmonton point.

It’s his first in the NHL since April 2022.

4. Blues spoil Nick Foligno’s 1100th game

In the afternoon, the Blues visited the Chicago Blackhawks.

Not even five minutes in, St. Louis was leading 2-0.

Jake Neighbours, who finished with two goals, broke the ice first.

Then, Kevin Hayes doubled his team’s lead with his fourth goal of the season.

In the end, the visitors held their nerve to win 4-2. They thus spoiled Nick Foligno’s 1100th NHL game.

5. 25 points for Filip Forsberg

After 20 games in a Nashville Predators season, nobody in franchise history has done better than Filip Forsberg in terms of points.

Yesterday, Nashville hosted the Jets, and the forward picked up an assist on his team’s winning goal.

He now has 25 points in 20 games.

Roman Josi also did well in the game, collecting a goal and two assists. He played a part in all his team’s goals.

The Swiss now has 15 points in 20 games in 2023-2024.
