Carey Price rents his Candiac home to a Canadiens player

In recent months, Carey Price’s Candiac home has been the talk of the town. After all, we know that he and his wife have decided to put it up for sale because of their return to Western Canada.

The result? This season, the Prices are back in their neck of the woods (even more so since Angela Price became a Canadian citizen), raising their children there.

But in spite of it all, the Price family is still attached to Montreal. Carey comes back east once in a while, and Angela says she misses her home in the Montreal suburb of Candiac.

Last October, she even said on Instagram that she wished she didn’t have to sell her home in the Montreal suburbs. And clearly, in the short term, that’s what happened.

Why do I say this?

Because Carey Price, in an interview with Dave Stubbs (NHL.com), said that this year, he’s renting his Candiac home to a Habs player. We don’t know who the player is, but we do know that the house hasn’t been sold.

However, the house is still for sale ($1.698 million). The couple are renting it out in the meantime.

I don’t know if the couple has finally bought a pied-à-terre in Montreal, but that explains why the family isn’t in their house when there’s a visit to Montreal.

This must allow Price to keep a link with one of his former team-mates. For example, when the hot-water tank played tricks on the tenant, the former janitor was notified.

I’m talking about keeping a link with his former teammates, because in the paper by Dave Stubbs, who chatted with #31 in Toronto ten days ago, we learn that Price is no longer part of the club’s groupchat with his former teammates.

He felt it was time to leave the chat to the current players, obviously… but that doesn’t stop him chatting with Jake Allen in private and talking to other guys, too.

But more and more, you can tell he’s losing interest. He doesn’t necessarily watch all the games, and he says he doesn’t miss the many hotel rooms required by the life of an NHL player.

Price, who won’t stand in his GM’s way if he has to exchange his contract, hasn’t skated since May, and it’s clear that taking care of his body and family is more important than ever.

That’s normal for a guy who’s no longer playing.
