One of the big stories was undoubtedly the performance of Linus Ullmark, by far the best goaltender in the NHL this season. The future Vézina winner’s poor playoff performances are explained. Indeed, the Swede played despite a very painful injury that limited his movement and technique.

What bothers me about this story is that he obviously didn’t say anything to his coaches, teammates or therapists. Maybe he knew that if he admitted his injury, he’d be left out in the cold. I understand that he wants to play, but if my hypothesis is true, it would really be a selfish move on his part. If his injury was so painful, how did no one see it? Didn’t anyone in the organization see him wince at some point?

It’s really strange.

In recent years, we’ve seen a lot of players who play with injuries and have surgery after the playoffs. Yes, their injuries are often major, but they’re still able to play at a high level.
