Justin Barron to take part in World Championship

It’s now official: Samuel Montembeault won’t be the only Canadiens player representing Canada at the World Championship.

Field hockey Canada has released the list of players who will participate in the tournament, and Justin Barron’s name is on it.

Great news for the main interested party. At the same time, we learn that Mike Matheson, who was also approached by the Canadian team, will not be taking part.

We already knew the names of a few players who would be part of the Canadian team, including Tyler Toffoli and Milan Lucic. So it’s refreshing to see the full list, which, we agree, leaves nothing to be desired.

I can’t wait to see Adam Fantilli in action… And I can’t wait to see how he fares against players older than him.

Back to Barron.

The young defenseman has had some good times in the NHL this year after starting the season with the Laval Rocket. His confidence has grown in recent months, and on the ice, it’s shown.

Barron is far from the same player he was at the team’s last training camp. Back then, his attitude was a little disappointing, and he seemed a little nonchalant at times.

The move to Laval did him a world of good and is further proof that you have to be patient with youngsters. It doesn’t matter, playing in the American League…

Quite the opposite. It gives you even more ice time and allows the youngsters to develop properly in a good role.

Barron and Montembeault will also have the opportunity to face other players from the CH organization, as we learned only yesterday that Lane Hutson, Sean Farrell and Luke Tuch will be representing the United States at the CDM.

They’ll all be interesting to watch… And it’ll be especially interesting to see the roles they’ll be assigned individually.
