Golden Knights one win away from Stanley Cup final

For the Stars, tonight’s game was one they absolutely could not lose.

Dallas had already lost the series 0-2, and the last thing they wanted was to find themselves on the brink for the next four duels.

However, the start of the game was a nightmare for the home side. Jonathan Marchessault broke the ice right from the start.

Note the Stars’ poor defensive coverage on the sequence.

Afterwards, captain Jamie Benn took a very stupid major penalty and his game was already over.

The Stars seemed on course to run out the entire penalty, but at the end of the power play, Ivan Barbashev took advantage of a great opportunity to double his team’s lead.

One minute and 13 seconds later, Quebec’s William Carrier took advantage of Jake Oettinger’s nonchalance to triple his team’s lead. That was it for the Stars’ number-one goaltender.

Not only did Benn not play in the game, but another key Stars player didn’t finish. Evgenii Dadonov left with a lower-body injury.

When things go wrong, things go wrong…

Midway through the second period, Alex Pietrangelo took advantage of heavy traffic in front of Scott Wedgewood’s net to give his team a four-goal lead. Barbashev then picked up his third point of the game.

At the end of the second period, the fans became impatient and took turns throwing objects onto the ice. It was that kind of night in Texas…

Final score: 4-0. The Nevada team leads the series 3-0 and needed only 16 shots on goal to win.

We’re heading for a Panthers-Golden Knights final. Will both Association Finals series end in a sweep?

Vegas will have the chance to eliminate the Stars on Thursday night, 8 p.m.
