Kyle Dubas and Sidney Crosby reportedly met in Pittsburgh yesterday

In the last few days, we’ve learned that the Maple Leafs have given the Pittburgh Penguins permission to talk to Kyle Dubas. The recently fired former GM is currently unemployed.

Right now in the NHL, only the Penguins and Maple Leafs are in need of a GM, and it seems that Pittsburgh is very, very interested in the former Toronto man’s candidacy.

It’s a rumour that has refused to die for months.

And let’s just say that, at the moment, nothing seems to stop the rumours. And why is that? Because, according to Taylor Haase, who covers the Penguins, Dubas is in Pittsburgh and has even met Sidney Crosby.

Let’s not forget that the GM said he didn’t want to be anywhere but Toronto last week. But that was BEFORE he was fired, which changes everything.

So it’s only natural to see him looking elsewhere, and clearly, the Penguins seem to really like him.

The feeling I get is that the Dubas (i.e., the family) have to decide whether it’s a good idea to dive straight back into the lion’s den right now.

And if so, the moving trucks will be heading for Pennsylvania.

If so, you’d think Crosby would be happy. After all, Dubas has an excellent reputation in the NHL, which will help the club move on after a… er… special regime.

After all, as we now know, Ron Hextall and Brian Burke didn’t exactly run the club like a master.

I really feel that if Dubas is in Pittsburgh so quickly, it’s because he doesn’t necessarily need to think about it for too long. He certainly doesn’t need a time-out to come to his senses.

I may be wrong, but I have a feeling that his arrival in Pittsburgh is imminent.
