Panthers sweep aside Hurricanes
The Panthers welcomed the Hurricanes to Sunrise for Game 4 of the Eastern Association Finals. Up 3-0 in the series, Florida had only one thing on its mind: to complete the sweep. Carolina, on the other hand, was desperate to win the first game of the series.

The locals struck first. Quebec’s Anthony Duclair took advantage of the confusion in front of Frederik Andersen’s net to retrieve the loose puck before slamming it into the back of the net.

One goal wasn’t enough for the Panthers. Matthew Tkachuk waited patiently in front of the Hurricanes’ goal and finally picked up the puck as it passed by. In no time at all, the disc found its way behind Andersen.

Even though the Panthers seemed to be in full control of the game, the Hurricanes never gave up. Brady Skjei unleashed a shot from the blue line that beat Sergei Bobrovsky, but hit the post. Luckily for Skjei, Paul Stastny was passing by and just had to drop the puck into the Panthers’ cage.

This series gave us some big physical play. Sam Bennett pulled off one of the best checks since the start of the series against Jaccob Slavin.

Even Habs alumnus Chris Nilan loved it!

After one period, the Panthers were ahead 2-1.

After finally beating Bobrovsky in the first period, the Hurricanes seemed more confident. That’s probably what motivated Teuvo Teravainen to score the equalizer early in the second.

That’s all well and good, but the Panthers have proven since the start of the series that they know how to beat the Hurricanes. They did it in style, thanks to a tic-tac-toe completed by Ryan Lomberg.

The Panthers were just twenty minutes away from reaching the Stanley Cup Final for the second time in their history, after the second period. They were leading 3-2.

Florida decided to play much more defensively in the third period. Sergei Bobrosvky continued to stop every puck that came his way, but finally gave in late in the period.

Jesper Fast gave his team hope with this goal.

Unfortunately for the Hurricanes, Jordan Staal was punished with 57 seconds left in the game. What had to happen, happened.

Matthew Tkachuk scored with just under five seconds left in the game to send the Panthers to the Stanley Cup Final.

The Panthers will face the winner of the series between the Stars and Golden Knights. Vegas currently leads the series 3-0.
