Video of Matthew Tkachuk and Jayson Tatum in high school in 2013 resurfaces
A top-level athlete graduating from a high school is a huge victory for the institution.

Now imagine two top athletes leading their team to the finals of two of the world’s biggest leagues, in two different disciplines, in the space of a few weeks.

It’s not impossible that this scenario could become a reality tomorrow: Matthew Tkachuk could see one of his former high school classmates reach the NBA Finals.

During Tkachuk’s interview with NBA on TNT yesterday, the panel brought up an old video from 2013 in which Celtics’ Jayson Tatum can be seen introducing his friend Matthew Tkachuk in a team project.

The two athletes shared an education class for a few years at Chaminade College Preparatory School in St. Louis, and obviously spent quite a bit of time together.

It’s pretty crazy that the two 25-year-olds could not only become NHL and NBA champions, but also be in playoff MVP discussions for their respective teams.

“It’s crazy that we were in the same education class for all those years and it’s cool that we get to represent our school like that.”

Can you imagine if Tkachuk brought the Stanley Cup to his high school this summer, accompanied by Jayson Tatum and the Larry O’Brien Trophy?

Well, Tatum and the Celtics haven’t yet, although they’ve won their last three games to force a Game 7 against the Miami Heat. It would be the first time in NBA history that a team overcame a 0-3 deficit, and Tatum is the team’s undisputed leader.

Nevertheless, this archive remains incredible to watch, regardless of the outcome of the series between the Heat and Celtics.

Here’s the video in full.
