School’s out for Juraj Slafkovsky

Juraj Slafkovsky’s injury may have caused him to miss the final months of the Montreal Canadiens’ regular season…

But it also helped him in another way.

In fact, since his season ended sooner than expected, it gave him the opportunity to travel to his native Slovakia to take his final exams in high school.

It’s strange to think that he played in the best field hockey league in the world in the last few months, without even graduating from high school… But hey. That’s all in the past now, because he’s got his diploma.

The young man, as reported by a Slovakian website, passed all his tests and now his school career is finally over. However, there was one exam in particular that was more difficult than the others, as Robert Ďurkač, a Slovak journalist, mentioned in the article in question:

Slovak field hockey star Juraj Slafkovský graduated on Wednesday, although the history exam gave him a hard time. – Robert Ďurkač

Bravo!

This is a milestone in everyone’s life and I’m sure Slaf is aware of it. Now he’ll be able to focus on his field hockey career, since still according to Robert Ďurkač, CH number 20 isn’t planning a return to the school benches anytime soon.

Maybe that will change in the future, who knows.

It’s also one less stress on his shoulders, and perhaps that stress has appeared at times in the past year. After all, even if he was used to living on his own before he came to Montreal, there’s been so much new for him since he was drafted that he may have had too much on his plate at times.

A new city, a new team, new teammates, adjusting to NHL life, being away from family and friends, school…

Put it all together and it can be a little hard to control… But hey. He’s just settled a file that was a bit important, and that can only help him for the future.
