Edmundson, Hoffman in play for Montreal? https://t.co/fNyBErYYq6

Having Sean Monahan back in town means that, in the short term, the Habs will be overflowing at center. With Nick Suzuki, Kirby Dach, Christian Dvorak and Jake Evans in addition to Monahan, that’s a lot of mass.
And I’m not talking about Pierre-Luc Dubois or the Habs’ first choice, who could be a center.
I’m of the school of thought that it’s better to have more centers because they can play on the wing. The proof? Sean Monahan and Kirby Dach formed a formidable duo last year.
But the fact remains that if a top-notch center is added for the long haul, whether it’s Dubois or a kid in the draft, it’s going to put pressure on Christian Dvorak.
Dvorak is a valiant soldier who, in an ideal world, should be playing on a third line. However, he’s not the kind of player who’s guaranteed a long-term spot – quite the contrary.
Dvorak is under contract until 2025. He earns $4.45 M per season, which doesn’t necessarily make him the most interesting candidate on the market this summer.
I’m not saying he’s worthless, but it’s early to go after a contract like this, which expires in 24 months.
And don’t forget thathe has a partial no-trade clause starting July 1. So I’d be surprised to see him leave for Winnipeg if Pierre-Luc Dubois is traded after July 1.
In any case, the Jets certainly want a bigger piece than him, don’t they?
So I don’t know what’s in store for him, but it will be fascinating to follow. After all, imagine what the Flanelle GM could do with that much more under the cap…
Let’s not forget that he didn’t finish the season healthy, having undergone knee surgery and not played since.

I’m told no active talks at the moment between F Barbashev and @GoldenKnights. As of now it’s looking like he’ll be hitting the Free Agent Market- where he’ll have plenty of lucrative offers. @espn @NHL @NHLNetwork @TSNHockey @DKSportsbook #HockeyTwitter
