It’s strange to see Marchessault in the company of such great NHL players. Yet his regular season wasn’t all that impressive. He collected 57 points in 76 games.
In simple comparison, Nick Suzuki collected 66 points this season. Granted, Marchessault has been incredible in the playoffs, but it’s odd to see a scorer of less than 60 points competing with the players who make up the league’s image.
His total of 57 points seems tiny compared to McDavid’s 153. Think about it. McDavid has more goals than Marchessault has points. The same goes for assists!
But then again, we can’t forget that Marchessault won the Conn Smythe Trophy with the Golden Knights, who dominated everyone on their way to winning the Stanley Cup. Marchessault collected 25 points, including 13 goals, in 22 games during the Golden Knights’ playoff run.
His early career wasn’t incredible with the Blue Jackets and Lightning. He bounced back with a superb first season with the Panthers, but they let him go to the Golden Knights in the expansion draft.
The latest winner of the NHL’s Most Valuable Player award at the ESPY Awards is Connor McDavid.
