Tomas Plekanec will continue with Kladno Knights for another season, his 24th in professional field hockey. He will be 41-years old in October.

Tomas Plekanec is 40 years old. That didn’t stop him from collecting 49 points (16 goals) in 52 games last year in Kladno, and we realize that at his age, he still has a lot to give in the field hockey world.
The CH veteran will celebrate his 41st birthday next autumn (October 31), and despite everything, he has decided that it’s not yet time to retire.
The Kladno Knights announced via an Instagram story that the team captain will be back next year…
And it will be his 24th season in the pros since the start of his career. That’s huge.
We’ve known it for a long time now. Tomas Plekanec is a sports lover.
The season before, the Habs had traded him to the Leafs at the trade deadline… But “Pleky” wanted to return to Montreal with the goal of playing his 1000th game in the uniform of the team that drafted him in the third round at the 2001 draft.
Last year, the Knights didn’t have a huge season (18-26-6 record), but they were still able to avoid relegation to the Czech league. This makes Jaromir Jagr, who’s like 103 years old (I’m exaggerating, he’s 51), consider the idea of playing next season.
So Plekanec, even at 41, wouldn’t be the oldest player on the roster. Hehe.
Honestly, good for the player… And good for the organization and its fans. If Plekanec feels physically capable of playing another season at the professional level, then why not.
I don’t see why he’d want to retire if he’s not.
