#ICYMI Vladimir Tarasenko Seems No Closer to Signing With a New Club https://t.co/mbC9Te8kiH

Since the opening of the autonomous player market, the vast majority of free agents have found a buyer, and signed a contract for next season, and for some for the next few seasons.
Many players opted to sign quickly and not play the waiting game, perhaps to get better offers later on.
Job security and stability of residence are two important elements for many NHL players.
However, some have decided to wait longer.
One of them is 31-year-old Russian winger Vladimir Tarasenko, whose situation is currently very calm.
As we speak, he's still as free as a bird, and doesn't seem to be anywhere near a contract with a new team.
But that doesn't mean Tarasenko hasn't received offers – quite the contrary.
In fact, Tarasenko has reportedly turned down major offers since the market opened, with annual values ranging from $5.5 to $6 million.
So Tarasenko would have left a lot of money on the table, thinking he'd end up getting more.
In the end, it looks like it's coming back to haunt Tarasenko, whose only real option right now seems to be a one-year contract.
Several teams have been linked to the Russian winger since the market opened, but nothing has been concluded so far.
The Carolina Hurricanes, Ottawa Senators, Nashville Predators and San Jose Sharks have all been part of the Tarasenko rumour mill.
One problem for the Russian winger, however, is that only nine teams have more than $5.5 million in salary cap space.
This may have been overlooked by the Tarasenko camp when he (potentially) turned down offers of $5.5-6M per year thinking he'd get more.
In short, Tarasenko finds himself in a rather difficult situation where he can't go back and accept one of these big offers.
He'll probably have to settle for a one-year contract worth around $4 million.
