As is the case every year, as the National Hockey League season enters its final stretch, all eyes turn to American college hockey—the NCAA.

Every team eagerly watches and analyzes the progress of its top prospects to see when they'll join the NHL.

Following Cole Caufield and Lane Hutson in recent seasons, all eyes are now on Michael Hage.

The 20-year-old center is a top prospect for the Habs, and his NCAA season is now down to the wire, with the Frozen Four set for April 9 (semifinals) and April 11 (final).

In fact, it's likely that Hage will make a full return to action for this semifinal.

Of course, we all expect Hage to sign with the Canadiens as soon as the University of Michigan's season is over, whether that's in the semifinal against the University of Denver or in the final.

A pro contract is therefore imminent for Hage, but the terms of the deal remain to be determined, as the young player's camp is reportedly open to two options.

Indeed, as reported by Marco D'Amico in his article for Ratings, Michael Hage's camp is considering discussing two possibilities with Kent Hughes and the Canadiens.

First, there's the popular option everyone in Montreal is talking about: Hage signing his entry-level NHL contract.

This would allow him to burn the first year of that three-year contract by playing a few regular-season games—and most likely some playoff games—with the Habs as early as this season.

And second, there's the option of an amateur tryout with the Laval Rocket in the American Hockey League, which would allow Hage to gain a lot of experience, as the Rocket is poised for a deep playoff run.

Hage would thus finish the season with the Rocket and potentially play a major role in the pro playoffs, before signing his entry-level contract at the start of the 2026-2027 season.

Hage's camp is therefore considering both options, while Kent Hughes and the Canadiens will reassess which is preferable once the University of Michigan's season is over.

In short, we're all eagerly awaiting Hage's arrival in the Habs' organization, given that he's a top prospect and a highly talented center.
