There were only three NHL games played last night.
And it's worth noting that no Eastern Conference teams were in action on Wednesday.
Let's take a look at what happened in those three games:

1: Nathan MacKinnon scores his 50th of the season… in a Nordiques uniform
Nathan MacKinnon was looking for his 50th goal of the season last night.
And he didn't waste much time reaching that milestone: The Dogg scored 1:22 into the first period to finally notch his 50th goal of the season.
And… it's ironic in a way because he did it in a Nordiques jersey. Will Cole Caufield be able to join him? :

We really saw a goal avalanche between Colorado and Vancouver last night.
The game ended with a score of 8-6 (!) in favor of the Canucks… and that's partly thanks to Brock Boeser, who scored a hat trick in the game.
We don't talk about him too often, but it has to be said: Boeser is quite the hockey player.

This marks the Avalanche's fifth loss this season while wearing the Nordiques' uniform.
Let's just say that with a 2-5-0 record in the Quebec jersey, the Avalanche doesn't really look like the best team in the NHL… because they literally seem like a different team when Colorado is dressed in the Nordiques' blue.

The Nordiques' final seven regular-season games as a team: 2-4-1
…maybe should've kept those jerseys on ice

2: Macklin Celebrini is incredible
Macklin Celebrini needs no introduction.
At just 19 years old, he's already established himself as one of the best players in the NHL… and we saw it again last night. That play is worth watching over and over:

Let's fast-forward to the end of the game… with two minutes left to play. The score is 3-2 in favor of the Ducks, but that's when Celebrini decided to really step up.
The young Sharks star scored once and added an assist on his team's game-winning goal with about thirty seconds left in the game.
Celebrini finished the night with four points (two goals and two assists), and the Sharks won a crucial game by a score of 4-3:

The win was crucial for the Sharks because it brings them within one point of the Kings and a playoff spot in the West.
Things are going to get heated in the West between now and the end of the season. Just look at the standings to see how tight it is…

3: Big Win for the Kings
I mentioned that the win was important for the Sharks, but the Kings couldn't afford to slip up either last night against the Blues.
And they got the message: Adrian Kempe opened the scoring with his 28th goal of the season to give his team the lead.

Except the Blues weren't done yet.
Robert Thomas, who was the subject of several trade rumors at the trade deadline, sent everyone back to square one late in the third period with just four minutes remaining in the game.
Overtime was necessary:

In overtime… it was Trevor Moore who stepped up for Los Angeles.
The forward, who has had a rather quiet season, scored his 11th goal of the campaign to give his team a 2-1 victory.
The Kings held on, and as of this morning, they're sitting in the final playoff spot in the West…
