After a first period in which neither team scored, the Habs came alive in the second period.
First, Alex Newhook broke the ice in what had been a defensive game up to that point.

With about five minutes left in the game, Caufield secured the win for his team with his second goal of the game.
And that makes 49… He has seven games left to score one more and reach the 50-goal mark.

Final score: 3-2.
Seventh straight win in regulation for the Habs, who will play their next game on Saturday against the Devils. It will be the final game of what has been a perfect road trip so far.
This is the first time since late 2016 that Montreal has won this many consecutive games in regulation.
Overtime
– Wow. Caufield is also guaranteed to finish the season with at least one point per game.
