The Canadiens are the top Canadian team, both on and off the ice.
The Maple Leafs just fired their GM, the Jets are stuck in no man's land, the Flames and Canucks are about to start rebuilding again, the Oilers haven't had a goalie in ages…
But then there are the Senators, who are in the worst situation, in my opinion. They might miss the playoffs by a few points, don't have a first-round pick until the 32nd overall, and their captain and starting goalie are at odds. Things are going so badly in Ottawa that the two players weren't available to the media today, and it's likely related to what the Tkachuks said on their podcast.
Here is the full exchange for greater context. Keith Tkachuk comments on players becoming “soft” in dealing with injuries, then brings up Grant Fuhr (goaltender) playing 70 games a season. Brady laughs awkwardly and Matthew quickly tries to change topics. pic.twitter.com/vTTiJ2MsNE

It's been said for some time now that Brady Tkachuk's days in Ottawa are numbered.
But the podcast incident has opened a lot more eyes. Antoine Roussel and Jean-Charles Lajoie didn't hold back during their evening segment on TVA Sports.

If Lajoie were in charge of the Sens, he'd suspend his captain for the rest of the season and deal with his case after the season. In any case, that's the kind of thing he'd do, he says. Ottawa is two points away from the playoffs, and I imagine Michael Andlauer wouldn't want to risk losing a few dollars…
That was actually Antoine Roussel's stance against a suspension, but he'd seriously consider a trade. But according to the Frenchman, Brady Tkachuk won't be a member of the team next year. He was clear on that.
Roussel maintains that he'll be traded, not because he no longer wants to play in Ottawa, but because “we're the ones who don't want him anymore.”
The Sens captain, who is highly regarded in the locker room—let's not forget—is making arrangements to leave Canada, just as his brother did several years ago. By the way, did you notice there were absolutely no Senators jerseys or logos in the podcast? Only items in Panthers colors…
Speaking of the great champion.
