Travis Green (strongly) criticized his players following the Senators’ embarrassing loss last night
Ah, the famous Senators…
Yesterday, the Sens got routed 6-3 by the Panthers. They were down 5-0 after the first period and never really got into the game.
The result? That makes three straight losses for the Ottawa club… and it's happening at the worst possible time of the season.
The Sens are two points behind the Blue Jackets and a playoff spot.
But as is often the case… the team just can't seem to play well when it counts. And yesterday, Travis Green had had enough after his team's game: the Sens' head coach decided to throw some of his players under the bus, without necessarily naming names.
We just weren't good enough tonight. We had a bunch of players who weren't good enough. – Travis Green

Obviously, at this point in the season, a team hoping to make the playoffs can't behave like that on the ice.
They can't afford to take a night off… and that's exactly what happened last night in Ottawa. The Sens thought it would be easy against the Panthers, who are really struggling right now, but they ended up shooting themselves in the foot.
And it's only natural that the team's head coach isn't happy with the situation.
The good news for the Sens is that they still have eight games left to play before the end of the season.
They still have time to get back on the winning track… but time is running out, and looking at the team's recent games, one has to wonder if they really have what it takes to secure a spot in the playoffs.
And it seems like that's just how it is, year after year in Ottawa. At some point, things will have to change…
