Last week, we learned that Jakub Dobes was taking an indefinite break from the media. And this, even though he's currently playing the best hockey of his career.

We later learned that this was linked to the fact that the goalie was frequently being reprimanded internally for his comments, leading to a mutual decision between the goalie and the club.

But today, after his solid performance against the Lightning, the goalie chatted briefly with the media. The hiatus is clearly over.

It's worth noting that his answers were reminiscent of the good old days. He emphasized that the game was important, that his team played well, and, as seen in the following clip, that the Habs will be tough to beat in the playoffs if they play like this every night.

Nothing that should rub anyone the wrong way internally.

One might think the Habs really pushed their goalie to stick to that script. After all, people want to hear the team's #1 goalie speak, and this might be a good alternative under the circumstances.

And seeing him speak right after another strong performance, with the team on a six-game winning streak, is a great moment.

One might think that this brief post-game appearance (remember, this is the only time goalies speak to the media) will satisfy those who wanted to see the goalie available for the press conference again. And after his big performance tonight, he clearly felt comfortable enough to answer questions.

Well done.

Overtime

Remember that Dobes was also named the NHL's First Star of the Week yesterday, which adds to the context of why now is a good time to let him speak to the media.

He's not just the man of the hour in Montreal: he's the man of the hour across the entire Bettman circuit, after all.
