In case you didn't know, the playoffs have begun in the KHL. And Alexander Zharovsky's team is in the mix.
Salavat Yulaev Ufa lost its first game (2–0) before winning its second (1–0) against Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg.
The Canadiens prospect was shut out in his first two playoff games.
It's not for lack of trying. In his team's second game against Avtomobilist, the kid nearly scored one of the goals of the year in the hockey world.
He has incredible hands:

That said, Zharovsky and his team played Game 3 of their first-round series today and came away with the win. The creative forward picked up an assist on his team's second goal and helped his team secure a 4-3 victory.
It's his first point in the playoffs since turning pro. And he earned it:

You can tell the youngster has talent. In the clip above, you can see him creating space in the offensive zone to give himself time to find a teammate… and he ultimately passed the puck to a teammate who was practically all alone in the slot.
It takes intelligence to make plays like that.
His late selection in the last draft has people talking all over the National Hockey League, and that's no coincidence either.
The Canadiens seem to have pulled off a major coup by selecting him with the 34th overall pick, right at the start of the second round… because many are wondering why he slipped all the way down to that spot.
Oh well.
Zharovsky and Salavat Yulaev Ufa will play their next game in just under 48 hours. Will the Canadiens prospect be able to keep up his momentum after recording an assist today?
We'll find out on Saturday.
