Last night, there were six games in the NHL.

Some great things happened, so here's a summary.

But first, the results:

1. Give the Calder to Matthew Schaefer

Last year, Lane Hutson won the Calder. And this season, another defenseman is on track to win it.

Matthew Schaefer is simply incredible: we saw him on Thursday at the Bell Centre.

Yesterday, he was once again sensational, scoring two goals and picking up an assist. He is the first rookie to reach the 20-goal mark this season. He's a defenseman and he's 18 years old, I remind you.

At this point, there's no doubt he's going to win the Calder. The fact that Ivan Demidov is out of gas isn'thelp either…

Here's a summary of his “modest” season.

As the game headed into overtime, the Islanders captain decided to take matters into his own hands.

Anders Lee stole the show from his young teammate with this beautiful goal.

No three-point game between these two Eastern Conference teams.

That's fine.

2. Kirill Kaprizov one goal away from franchise record

Before the Wild-Blues game, Kirill Kaprizov was two goals away from setting a new franchise goals record for the Wild.

He is now just one goal away, having scored his team's only goal in a 3-1 defeat. He shares the record with Marian Gaborik (219).

Upon his return to the game, Robert Thomas, who is possibly in the shop window, scored a goal for the Blues.

It was an insurance goal into an empty net.

Former CH player Logan Mailloux also joined the party.

He scored his second goal of the season.

St. Louis goalie Joel Hofer had a great game.

He robbed Vladimir Tarasenko late in the game.

Shortly before that, he almost scored a goal.

3. Arvid Soderblom's first shutout in the NHL

The Blackhawks came to play yesterday in Salt Lake City.

They won by a score of 4-0. It was the first shutout of his career for goalie Arvid Soderblom, who stopped 22 shots.

The action began at the end of the first period.

Teuvo Teravainen broke the ice in this game.

Then, in the second period, Nick Foligno scored his 250th goal in the Bettman circuit.

Teravainen, who was the only Hawks player to score two points, scored a second goal in the third period.

A four-on-five goal.

4. Michael Misa plays the hero in overtime

The Jets and Sharks played an extremely close game.

So close that the game ended 2-1 in overtime. It was Michael Misa who beat Connor Hellebuyck in overtime to give San Jose the win.

Hellebuyck is the goalie who has given up the most goals this year in three-on-three play with seven.

Eight if Team Canada had won theGold…

In the third period, Will Smith scored a beautiful one-timer to send the game into overtime.

The Jets' only goal was scored by Morgan Barron, his first in 21 games.

5. Mason McTavish is five for five in shootouts

Penalty shots are not a situation that many players enjoy. In any case, Mason McTavish is not one of them. The Ducks center is perfect in five shootout opportunities this season.

His goal secured the win over the Flames.

Final score: 3-2 Ducks.

Both of the team's goals in regulation time were scored by their top scorer, Cutter Gauthier.

His 27th and 28th of the season.

Lukas Dostal also stood out, stopping 32 of the 24 shots he faced.
