Juraj Slafkovsky is a very popular name in Montreal, and he will become even more so in the years to come.

His performances with the Canadiens have made him an increasingly recognized and popular player among Montreal fans, and let's just say that his current Olympic Games are only amplifying that popularity.

However, there is one place where Slafkovsky is even more popular than in Montreal.

In Slovakia, the birthplace of the CH's #20, Slafkovsky is simply a national treasure and the idol of all Slovaks.

Slafkovsky is so well known and popular in Slovakia that teachers forbid students from doing school projects on the Canadiens player.

You read that right, Slafkovsky is so well known and so popular that children and teenagers are forced to choose another Slovak celebrity for their school projects.

That says a lot about Slafkovsky's status in his country, despite the criticism he has leveled at Slovakia and the hockey confederation.

It's clear that the current Olympic Games are helping to make Slaf the idol of all Slovaks, as he has carried his country to the semifinals with eight points, including four goals, in five games.
Slafkovsky will try to help his country win a second consecutive bronze medal at the Olympics, as he did in 2022, with seven goals in seven games.

The bronze medal game will take place at 2:40 p.m. between Slovakia and Finland. Slovakia will attempt to defeat Finland for the second time in the tournament.
