Earlier today, Canadawon a nail-biting semifinal game against Finland. With this victory, Connor McDavid and his teammates secured their spot in the men's hockey final in Milan. The question, however, was who would join them in the grand final. In the other semifinal, we were treated to a duel between the United States and Slovakia. And in the end, we were treated to… a thorough beating. The United States quickly took control of the game… and never looked back.

In the first period, Mike Sullivan's men scored two goals.

Dylan Larkin and Tage Thompson found the back of the net.

Then, in the second half of the second period, the United States put the game out of reach with three goals, including two in 19 seconds.

Jack Hughes scored his team's third and fifth goals, while Jack Eichel scored the fourth.

In the third period, Slovakia showed its teeth, with Juraj Slafkovský denying Connor Hellebuyck a shutout.

This is Slaf's eighth point since the start of the tournament, placing him fourth among the top scorers in the competition.

But a few minutes later, Brady Tkachuk made sure to end Slovakia's (slim) hopes of a comeback by scoring a sixth goal for the United States.

He took advantage of a breakaway to restore his team's five-goal lead.

Pavol Regenda brought both teams within four goals of each other, but that was as far as it went.

That was the last goal of the game.

The United States wins 6-2 and also earns a spot in the final. They will face Canada in the gold medal game on Sunday at 8 a.m.

Slovakia will face Finland in the bronze medal game, which will take place tomorrow at 2:40 p.m. Juraj Slafkovský and Oliver Kapanen will face off for the bronze medal… and let's not forget that in the first game of the tournament, Slovakia beat Finland 5-1.
