In hockey, NHL players can earn crazy salaries thanks to the fans. If everyone decided, at the same time, not to go to games and not to watch them, hockey players wouldn't be able to make as much money.
I'm not saying this because I think it should be done: I'm just putting things into perspective.
Why? Because when I see a video like the one I'm about to show you, I think American hockey players don't get it.
No, the guys aren't paid millions of dollars to go to the Olympics. But the popularity of the sport depends on events like this. Thanking the fans who show up in Italy should be the least they can do, right? Right?
But when you watch the following video, you see that when the Americans returned to their locker room after an Olympic period, they didn't shake hands with the fans. The Canadian players did.
You can't teach humility

Is this the end of the world? No. But is it disrespectful? Yes. What this means is that no American player in the line thought to shake hands with the fans. If one guy had done it, everyone else would have followed suit.
Captain Auston Matthews only did so for one fan who appeared to be wearing his Maple Leafs jersey at the end of the line. This prompted two other players to shake hands with that young man, but that was it. You have to be pretty full of yourself to think about it.
In a short tournament like this, the guys have to quickly become a team. Are the United States, who left some big names at home, cohesive enough to beat Canada in a possible final between the two countries?
We'll see.
In quick succession

Lane Hutson and Ivan Demidov extended their time on the ice after the mini-game.
It was a welcome sight, as the two young talents once again demonstrated their great chemistry.

Evans, Laine, and both goalies decided to leave the ice.
The guys had fun playing 3-on-3 for about 30 minutes. No other drills.
But seeing so many players on the ice this morning feels good. The return is approaching! pic.twitter.com/kXye6oAp1s

Joe Veleno visited children at his former elementary school, East Hill, in Rivière des Prairies.
I asked him if he would jump at the chance to play for Italy if the @NHL formed a team with Italian players from the league in two years at the World Cup… pic.twitter.com/pCjYWhNxGJ
