Max Pacioretty has kept himself busy even though he hasn't played in the NHL for several months. He announced his retirement shortly before the start of the season and has since found a job with his alma mater, serving as a special assistant coach at the University of Michigan.

He is primarily responsible for player development, which gives him a front-row seat to watch Michael Hage.

Pacioretty was in Quebec City for the International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament, where he accompanied his son's team, and he took the opportunity to talk to reporters about the Canadiens' prospect.

As we learn in Kevin Dubé's article published on TVA Sports, Paccio is really impressed with what he has seen from Hage so far and does not hesitate to praise his skills:

“He has unique individual skills. He can do things with the puck that few players in the world are capable of doing.”

Let's not forget that the former CH captain played 17 seasons in the NHL with the best players in the world, so hearing him say that is no small thing.

What's more, playing in a talented conference like the Big Ten, the 19-year-old center has to play tight hockey with a defensive and physical style that he has quickly adapted to.

And his statistics are there to prove it. After an excellent rookie season with 34 points in 33 games, Hage is doing even better in his second campaign with 40 points in 29 games so far.

Pacioretty, who played ten seasons with the Canadiens, doesn't believe his protégé will have any trouble adapting to the Montreal market, given that he has experienced his share of adversity, notably with the loss of his father in 2023.

The newly retired player is convinced that Hage will be very successful in the NHL and that he has everything it takes to adapt to this level of play.

Let's hope his words prove prophetic for the Habs' young prospect.
