Despite Slovakia's loss to Sweden, Juraj Slafkovsky had another strong game today with a goal and an assist.

Nevertheless, even though the Slovaks lost the game, they celebrated their first place finish in Group B in what Slafkovsky called the best loss of his life.

The CH forward already has six points, including three goals, in just three games, tying him for first place in tournament scoring with Connor McDavid (who has played one less game).

Slaf's performances since the start of the Olympics have impressed many, including his teammate Mike Matheson, who was visiting the Videotron Center for the Quebec City International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament (as was Max Pacioretty, who discussed Michael Hage).

Kevin Dubé posted his discussion with Matheson about the Slovak forward in an article on TVA Sports.

According to the defenseman, Slafkovsky shows that he can elevate his game in important moments.

Furthermore, Matheson believes that these performances are a continuation of the progress we have seen in the 21-year-old forward, who has learned to make better use of his physical stature.

And if the Canadiens want to be successful in the playoffs in the years to come, it will be important to have this kind of performance from the 6-foot-3 forward.

In fact, even though Matheson has the luxury of watching the hockey tournament and resting, he would have much preferred to receive a call from Team Canada officials while he was on the list, as we learn in another article by Kevin Dubé published on TVA Sports.

However, even though he was warned to remain available, the call never came for the Pointe-Claire native.

This is unfortunate for Matheson, who is having a very good season with the Canadiens. At 31, this was most likely his last chance to experience the Olympic adventure.

At least he can console himself by taking advantage of the long break to spend time with his family while waiting for the Canadiens to resume play.

In brief

– A tie for CF Montreal.

— The equalizing goal.

– Victory for the Lions.

— Are the Blues being too greedy?
