Images of naked hockey players on Snapchat: two young players and three coaches suspended

When I saw the headline on my X feed, I thought to myself ,” Come on, that can't be true.”

However, no, the QMI agency editor had not been fooled by fake news. There is indeed a U15 team in Ontario that was disbanded after several videos of naked players were posted on Snapchat.

The story is as follows: the West London Hawks U15 team had to shut down because two players and three coaches were suspended by their league (Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario) and, for the safety of everyone involved with the team, it was best to disband it.

The London Police and Hockey Canada are now handling the case. Let's hope they do a better job than they did a few years ago…

What are the players and coaches accused of? What we do know is that players allegedly filmed (despite a rule prohibiting cell phones in the locker room) and then shared videos taken in the locker room showers on Snapchat… videos that showed nudity (of minors).

It is not yet clear what role each of the suspended coaches played in this story. According to rumors, the coaches did not comply with the two-adult rule, which prohibits an adult from being alone with a minor without another adult present at the same time. This rule requires that two adults always be near young people so that they are not left alone and unsupervised, especially in the shower.

Sharing images of naked minors on social media is a crime under the law. It is criminal. I hope that we will be able to shed light on this unacceptable behavior in sports and in our society.

It should be noted that the players who were not suspended were asked to find a new team.

Except that at this point in the season, it will be difficult for most of them…
