Comments made by Ufa general manager Rinat Bashirov caught the attention of Montreal.

Speaking about Alexander Zharovsky, Bashirov said that his organization would not necessarily oppose the young player making the jump to the NHL at the end of the season… but only if he was ready. The statement opened the door to a possible departure in the medium term, in a sense.

That said, on the player's side…

Here's what you need to know: Zharovsky indicated in an interview with RG Media that the possibility of a move to the NHL had not yet been discussed with his agents. No concrete steps seem to have been taken at this point… to put it another way.

And we agree that this is still an important detail.

The club's general manager, Rinat Bashirov, recently stated that Ufa would not oppose Zharovsky joining the NHL in a year's time if he is ready. Zharovsky indicated that the subject has not yet been discussed with his agents. – Daria Tuboltseva

For Zharovsky, the priority seems to remain the present.

With a year to go before a potential transition, a lot can change: his performance, his role with his own club… and we agree that, in the end, it's his development that matters.

But even though he hasn't wanted to talk about it openly with his agent for the moment, we still know that the possibility exists. There's a chance we'll see him join the Canadiens before the start of next season, which is interesting to know in a way.

After all, he's having an excellent first season as a professional in the KHL.

The youngster is making headlines for all the right reasons, producing at a truly remarkable pace in a truly exceptional league… and it's hard to overlook his prowess when you hear guys like Bob Hartley say that Zharovsky is a carbon copy of Ivan Demidov.

We know how good Demidov is because we're watching him blossom in the NHL. And if Zharovsky is as good as he is, as some people say… it's normal to be excited about what's to come.

This is a story to follow, then.

But even if he hasn't started talking to his agent about the possibility of leaving… just knowing that it's on the table is encouraging in a way.

Overtime

– Well done.

– Come on!

– Go!
