Positive comments about Juraj Slafkovsky have been pouring in for the past few hours.
Why?
Because the young man had quite a game today against Finland. He helped Slovakia win 4-1 against the talented Finnish team because he was the best player on the ice. His teammates also had good things to say about him.
When you see Simon Nemec praising Slaf like that, you realize just how much of an impact the big forward has on the rest of his team.
Nemec has said openly that Slovakia has a chance to win when Slaf—who is the best player on the team in the defenseman's eyes—performs like this.
That's love.
Simon Nemec on Juraj Slafkovsky: “If your best player is playing his best hockey, then the team is playing great. We know he's still 21, so he's not going to do that every night. But if he's going to do that, then we've got a chance to win the game, like we did.”

Simon Boisvert, appearing on Tony Marinaro's Sick Podcast, mentioned that Slaf is a more valiant player than Mikko Rantanen.
Remember: after being drafted, Slaf said he compared himself a little to the former Avalanche player. He felt he had similar qualities to the Finn, and it's true that the two guys are alike in a way.
But today, Slaf dominated him on the ice. And that's interesting too.
Three points for Slafkovsky against Finland and a certain Mikko Rantanen…
Simon “Snake” Boisvert: “One thing is certain, he's more valiant than Rantanen.”

That's what's special about Slaf's performance today, too.
The guy didn't dominate a game against Denmark or France: he was more than very good against Finland, which has several high-quality players in its lineup.
That's something to consider.
And that's where we see how Juraj Slafkovsky is really taking off in his development. He's been impressive since the start of the season in Montreal, and he was even more so in today's game.
Seeing him play, it's hard not to be really excited about what's to come…
