Does the name Sturla Holm Laegreid ring a bell?

I won't blame you if the answer is no. Because I didn't know him either until today.

But… I'm sure you'll be remembering him in the coming days and weeks. Why do I say that?

We're talking about a biathlete who is competing in his first Olympic Games. He won the bronze medal earlier this morning in the biathlon event… and in his post-race interview, he admitted that he recently cheated on his girlfriend.

You read that right.

The athlete himself says he made “the biggest mistake by being unfaithful”… and that he hopes she will forgive him after winning bronze today.

I'd like to tell you that this is a joke. But no:

Let's agree on one thing: you don't see this often in the world of sports.

In fact… I don't remember ever seeing it in my life. The guy decided to use a platform to confess his actions, and you can understand why his comments are making headlines right now.

That's normal, you might say.

Good for him, though, if it made him feel better to talk about it openly like that. I don't know how the story will end, I don't know if his girlfriend will decide to give him another chance… but it still takes courage in a way to confess all that in this manner.

It's like a scene from a movie, so Hollywood-esque… Hehe.

Overtime

– Phew. Good question…

– Well done!

– Yikes.
