Marc-Édouard Vlasic's stay in the NHL in San Jose did not end well. His contract was bought out by the Sharks after playing 1,323 games for the California team.
Last summer, he was quite direct about how his situation had been handled, saying he did not want to return to San Jose.
That being said, there has been interest in Vlasic lately from NHL teams. That's what he told Jean-Charles Lajoie on his show “JiC.”

He continued skating until December 10, but his daughter was born on December 12, which put an end to all discussions.
“I had a few offers, but we were getting ready for the birth of our little girl, and the offers I had weren't 100% interesting to me with the family aspect,” said Marc-Édouard Vlasic.
Vlasic decided to focus on his role as a father rather than accept an offer that would have taken him away from his family. He wants to be there for his family, but hasn't closed the door on a return starting in April.
I find it hard to believe that Vlasic could return to the NHL. I have a lot of respect for his career, but I don't see a team offering him a contract to finish the season.
Last season, the defenseman played only 27 games with one of the worst teams in the league. He scored only one goal and added two assists. Those aren't exactly impressive numbers.
In fact, on the heels of the Olympics, Vlasic paid tribute to Carey Price for Canada's gold medal in 2014. He said that beyond good defense, nothing got past him, and that's what made the difference.
In 2026, Canada won't be able to count on a goalie of Price's caliber. Let's hope that one of the three goalies can put in the best performance of their career.

– A perfect contract for the Kings.
Pierre LeBrun: Re Artemi Panarin: I don't think the Kings were ever going to do 4 to 5 years, and that's part of the leverage the Kings had, if you want to come to LA then you have to play ball with us – Melnick in the Afternoon (2/4)

– Interesting for the Québécois.
Pretty cool news. Former Phillies prospect Phillippe Aumont is coming out of retirement and has signed with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Aumont retired in June 2020 and has been working on a farm in Quebec. He pitched in the 2023 WBC for Canada and is on their 2026 WBC roster. pic.twitter.com/jIO15aLH1d
