Adam Engström is developing at a good pace.

The defenseman arrived in North America before the start of the 24-25 season and since then has shown really interesting signs of progress for the Montreal Canadiens organization.

It's no coincidence that he has earned playing time in the National Hockey League this season. He has earned it.

That said, Engström is really becoming too good for the American Hockey League.

He has recorded at least one point in his last seven games… and has accumulated a total of 10 points during that span. Engström is (without a doubt) the Rocket's most important defenseman right now, and he's a joy to watch.

This comes at an intriguing time… because the Canadiens are looking for someone who can play as the #6 defenseman in Montreal.

Even ChatGPT knows that the Habs have some defensive issues to address

Engström hasn't been bad in his eleven games with the habs this season in the National Hockey League. You can't necessarily say he's been excellent… but he has shown some interesting flashes at times.

But seeing him play so well in the American Hockey League right now makes me wonder: could he be called up after the Olympic break?

Could he prove to be a (good) alternative until Kent Hughes finds some help?

I tend to believe that Engström deserves another chance to prove himself. The Canadiens are surely keeping an eye on him right now… and Engström understands the message because he's doing all the right things on the ice.

He's impressive, at least.
