There was plenty of action last night in the NHL—even though the habs are already on vacation.

Seven games were played across the league.

Let's see what happened:

1: Paul Maurice gets ejected against the Lightning

Panthers vs. Lightning games are always entertaining.

Want proof?

Check out the following clip:

The Lightning won 6-1… but that's not important.

What you need to know is that things got out of hand between the two clubs. Even the Panthers' head coach was ejected from the game after a huge brawl on the ice!

I'm not exaggerating… and Matthew Tkachuk made a fool of himself when he got thoroughly beaten up by Brandon Hagel:

It would be crazy to see these two clubs face off in the playoffs.

But for that to happen, the Panthers will have to start winning more consistently… because they're still eight points away from a playoff spot.

2: Ah, the Rangers…

The Rangers lost 2-0 last night to the Hurricanes.

And the Canes can thank Brandon Bussi, who earned a shutout by stopping all of the Blue Shirts' shots:

During the game, Rangers fans showed their dissatisfaction.

How?

By chanting “Fire Drury!” to show how dissatisfied they are with the team's current situation and how unhappy they are with the return they got for Artemi Panarin.

Yikes.

After the game, J.T. Miller weighed in, saying he wasn't sure what was going on right now.

You know, when the team captain says that…

3: A frightening scene for the Kings

Nothing was working for the Kings last night.

They gave up four goals in the first period against the Golden Knights… and they never recovered. The Kings lost 4-1 to the Golden Knights, and it's worth noting that Artemi Panarin wasn't in uniform.

There was a very scary scene when forward Andrei Kuzmenko was hit in the face by a shot:

In his team's victory, Jack Eichel recorded his 200th assist in a Golden Knights uniform.

He had a two-point night and was outstanding:

4: Jakub Chychrun scores goal of the year for a defenseman

Jakub Chychrun is quite the hockey player.

You can tell when you see him score goals like this:

This might be the goal of the year for a defenseman. Honestly… it's hard to ask for anything better: a spin-o-rama combined with a perfect shot into the top corner of the net is hard to beat.

Chychrun scored a second goal in the game, his 21st of the season:

Chychrun's two goals helped the Capitals win 4-2.

That will feel good… because the Capitals have only five wins in their last ten games.

5: A dream game for Avery Hayes

Avery Hayes was called up yesterday afternoon by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

And he got the opportunity to play his first-ever game in the National Hockey League?

How did it go, you ask? Well…

Hayes scored on his first shot on goal in the big leagues:

And the youngster wasn't done for the night.

Hayes helped the Penguins (and the habs) beat the Sabres 5-2 by scoring a second goal in the game. It's truly a dream start for someone who was never drafted:

Overtime

– Well done.

– Great goal.

– Wow.

– 30 goals for Tage Thompson.
