The Red Sox have had a rather unusual winter so far. The club has acquired Ranger Suarez and Willson Contreras (and, to a lesser extent, Isiah Kiner-Falefa), but it has been criticized for letting Alex Bregman slip through its fingers.

After all, we're talking about the guy whose arrival helped push Rafael Devers out of Boston… and who ultimately left himself a few months later.

So right now, the Red Sox have a pitching staff that's equipped to stay up late, but has offensive shortcomings. Roman Anthony will be the big name, but he'll be responsible for carrying the club on his shoulders almost single-handedly.

And clearly, the club is aware of this: the rumor circulating in Boston is that they are looking to use their pool of prospects to make a trade.

And that trade would be used to bring a quality hitter to town.

The big question, however, is which hitter fits that profile. We know that right now, the biggest name circulating among hitters for a possible trade is… Jarren Duran.

And it will be difficult for the Red Sox to acquire him in a trade… because he's already in town, hehe.

Ketel Marte was linked to the Red Sox earlier this winter, but we understand that the Diamondbacks intend to keep him. Jazz Chisholm Jr. is another name that has been circulating, but the Yankees will clearly not send him to Boston if he ends up being traded.

Nico Hoerner and Isaac Paredes are possibly the two names to watch, although we agree that they won't change everything.

We'll see if the Red Sox can find a player who meets their needs, but we sense that the club is active right now. Except that, at the end of the day, it takes two to tango…
