Alexander Zharovsky is having a great 2025-26 season. The young Russian, who has played 44 games this season, has scored 13 goals and 36 points with Salavat Yulaev in the KHL.
For an 18-year-old, that's quite an achievement… although it should be noted that he is benefiting from golden opportunities for a young player of his age in Russia.
As a result, there is currently a lot ofbuzz surrounding the habs prospect. And what is quite clear is that there are people whoreally like Zharovsky.
Among them is Andrei Pustoyov, a 17-year-old who plays in Russia and knows Zharovsky well. He is one of those who has high prospects for the second-round pick… and in an interview with Sport-Express, he even went so far as to compare him to a very, very well-known prospect:
Alexander Zharovsky is clearly no worse than Gavin McKenna. – Andrei Pustoyov

We know McKenna is a great hockey player, considered the top prospect in the upcoming draft. We may wonder if what has happened in recent days changes the situation, but in terms of talent on the ice, he is very, very impressive.
In Pustoyov's view, Russia's exclusion from international competitions makes it difficult for young Russians to showcase their talent. They used to be able to do so at the WJC, but that has not been the case for several years now.
And according to the youngster, that allowed the habs to draft a promising prospect early in the second round of the last draft.
We know that Zharovsky has a lot of fans, andSnake recently stated that he was second only to Ivan Demidov among the habs' forwards in terms of pure talent. That doesn't make him a perfect player, but it does show that he's an interesting prospect.
And if the habs have a prospect of McKenna's caliber in Zharovsky, the club will be in good shape, we can agree on that.

– Interesting.
Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty is heading to New York (Red Bulls). I was told he wasn't going to get any playing time with the #CFMTL and that we shouldn't make any plans involving him.
Now, the return intrigues me. An attacking midfielder with the Red Bulls' DNA could be a good fit. https://t.co/Y7Zy5FhrL2
