The Canadiens won yesterday's game against the Winnipeg Jets.

And they can thank Samuel Montembeault and Brendan Gallagher, who were outstanding in the Montreal club's victory.

Let's see what happened elsewhere in the National Hockey League last night:

1: Leon Draisaitl criticizes his coaches after a loss to the Flames

The Oilers wanted to take advantage of their visit to Calgary to win one last game before the Olympic break.

That didn't happen… even though Leon Draisaitl scored two goals in the game. Connor McDavid recorded his 96th point of the season on Draisaitl's second goal of the game:

The Oilers ultimately lost the game 4-3… and after the game, Leon Draisaitl shared his frustration in front of the cameras.

The German, clearly unhappy with his team's three-game losing streak, said out loud that it was simply not acceptable at this point.

And he took a jab at his coaches… saying that everyone needs to be better and that it starts with them.

So the Oilers are heading into the break after losing their last three games.

It's not ideal, we agree. But the good news is that they have the talent to bounce back after the break.

2: A dream game for Matt Boldy

I love Matt Boldy as a player.

He's big, he skates well… and he has incredible offensive talent. We saw that last night when he scored a hat trick in the first period against the Predators:

Boldy's hat trick wasn't enough, though. The Wild player even added an assist in the game… but the Preds still won 6-5 in overtime.

On the Nashville side, Steven Stamkos' performance stands out. The veteran, who is having a great season, scored his 28th goal of the campaign and added two assists in the game.

Stamkos is really on fire.

3: Brad Marchand leads Panthers to victory over his former team

Brad Marchand shows no signs of slowing down.

At 37, he's still capable of making a difference on the ice… and he was the one who led the Panthers to victory last night.

The beauty of it all?

His team was facing his former club, and Marchand still found a way to be the hero:

The Panthers can also thank Anton Lundell, who was brilliant (one goal and two assists) in his team's victory.

Matthew Tkachuk also had two points (one goal and one assist) in the game.

I say it often, but at the risk of repeating myself… it helps when the best play against the best!

It should also be noted that during the game, Charlie McAvoy was hit dangerously by Sandis Vilmanis… and the Panthers player was not penalized for the play.

The defenseman was unable to finish the game:

You can imagine that Bruins head coach Marco Sturm was not happy with the referees' decision.

He spoke his mind after the game to the reporters in attendance:

4: 700 passes for the Dogg

Nathan MacKinnon is a good hockey player. Did you know that?

No kidding, the Avalanche star reached a milestone last night: with two assists, he recorded his 700th career assist in the National Hockey League.

He assisted on a goal by Artturi Lehkonen (his second of the game) to accomplish the feat:

The Avalanche faced off against the Sharks, and basically, we all agree that this is a somewhat uneven matchup.

And logic prevailed… as Colorado won the game 4-2. MacKinnon finished the game with a total of two assists, while Macklin Celebrini had a quiet night for San Jose.

The kid was shut out of the score sheet for the first time since the start of the season…

5: 20 goals for Werenski

Zach Werenski has established himself as one of the best players at his position over the past few seasons.

And you know what? Right now, I consider him to be the second-best defenseman in the National Hockey League after Cale Makar. He's that good.

Last night, he scored his 20th goal (!) of the season. He's really having a great season:

We have to talk about the Jackets… because things are going really well in Columbus.

They won 4-0 last night against the Blackhawks: you might say that's not necessarily impressive because the Chicago team isn't the best in the Bettman circuit.

But what's interesting is that the Jackets have now won their last seven games. They're the team of the moment in the NHL right now, and it's been working since Dean Evason was replaced by Rick Bowness behind the team's bench.

That said, they'll have to keep winning if they want to make the playoffs…
