Earlier today, the habs submitted Samuel Blais' name to waivers. The Québécois has been relegated to the role of 14th forward with the habs for some time now.
We'll have to see if a team decides to claim him by 2 p.m. tomorrow.
That said, by placing Blais on waivers, the Canadiens have opened up a spot on their 23-man roster. This cleared the way for the club to activate Patrik Laine from the injured list for tomorrow's game against the Jets.
But according to Eric Engels, that doesn't seem to be the club's plan: the reporter said he doesn't expect to see Laine in uniform tomorrow.
It's not set in stone… but he's not just talking for the sake of it, either, let's be clear.
Not expecting Patrik Laine to return tomorrow vs. Jets.

We know that Laine has been getting closer to returning to play for a while now. With a game against his former club (which will also be the Habs' last game before the Olympic break), it seemed like the perfect opportunity to see him back in action.
But clearly, that won't be happening.
More details to come…
